In our previous module about selling on WhatsApp, we covered the various ways in which you can use promotional broadcasts to reach consumers and get them to make a purchase. But did you know that you could do more than just sell through WhatsApp broadcasts?

After experimenting with the various features of the WhatsApp Business API and working on broadcast campaigns, we have identified a few more strategies to keep your existing customers engaged.

In this lesson, we’re going to be sharing them all.

WhatsApp broadcast campaigns to keep customers engaged

1. Newsletter

Instead of using WhatsApp broadcasts to only run promotions on deals and discounts, use them as your newsletters.

With proper formatting in place, you can actually give your customers a weekly, bi-weekly or even a monthly update on what’s new in the store. From media mentions to new testimonials, new launches, and upcoming products, you can announce them all!

Here’s an example of something similar wherein the brand lists down all of the deals together:

2. Quiz

Want to get to know your customers better or want to educate them about your products? Use WhatsApp broadcasts to run quizzes or get customers to participate in them.

With the help of the WhatsApp Business API, you can create a series of messages using interactive messages and reply buttons to make the quiz even more engaging. Remember to offer something of value to the customer for participating at the end of the quiz!

3. Contests

Another form of gamification to engage your customers is running contests. Use WhatsApp broadcasts to get customers to participate in a contest you’re running on the website or on social media, or you host one on WhatsApp itself!

Just remember that the contest must be easy to participate in and the reward for winning is of value to the customer – be it a discount or a free product from your collections!

Here’s an example of the same:

4. Customer testimonials

Another way to use WhatsApp broadcasts is to promote your customer testimonials. This could be around a new product you launched or a recent collection or collaboration you did. It’s a great and authentic way to get your customer’s interest piqued for the same!

The good thing is that you can include customer testimonials in the form of images shared by a consumer or even short videos!

5. Thanking customers

While you have transactional messages set up to send order confirmation and status alerts, it’s also a good idea to sometimes just thank your customers!

Use WhatsApp broadcasts to send a message about how grateful you are for their support. Include a heartfelt message and a special discount to further sweeten the relationship. Just make sure you use segmentation to send these messages to only those who have repeatedly bought from your site.

6. Surveys

If you’re planning to launch new products or collections in your store, or are looking at expanding your catalog, use surveys to get intel from your existing customers.

Run a survey with the help of WhatsApp broadcasts to get opinions from your customers. From what products you should add next to what more they’d like to see on your site, strategize your questions to understand the customer needs and preferences.

7. Promote upcoming sales and events

Don’t just use WhatsApp broadcasts to promote your ongoing deals, discounts, and sales. Use them to create a build-up around upcoming events and sales too!

Make sure your message copy creates curiosity, piques interest, and is designed to keep your customers engaged, making them want to visit your website.

Here’s an example:

8. Occasions

Your target audience is probably engaging with a lot more occasions and days than just the core holidays in the demographic. For example, dogs day, yoga day, and similar!

Use WhatsApp broadcasts these days as well to keep your customers engaged. Just make sure the day is contextual to what you stand for as a brand and what you sell. Or you could just create an entire campaign around the same.

Here’s an example:

How many WhatsApp broadcasts should you run?

Well, if you start looking at the examples above, you will realize that there are a number of ways in which WhatsApp broadcasts can be used to engage customers.

In terms of how often you should be sending these messages – the answer is you should experiment to see how often your customers want to hear from you!

It’s a good idea to start slow and experiment with different types of WhatsApp broadcasts to note how customers respond to them.

Based on what drives the highest amount of engagement and conversions, increase the number of WhatsApp broadcasts you run.
